Live was the fifth studio album released by Latina superstar Selena on May 4, 1993. Recorded live, at El Coliseo Memorial, Corpus Christi, Texas, on February 7, 1993. LIVE, won the 1994 Grammy Award, for Best Mexican-American Album. 1993's LIVE, captures Selena, just as her career was gaining serious momentum. Already a huge star in the Latino community, by the time of this dynamic concert performance, the dance-pop singer was well on her way to becoming a household name, in North America, as well. LIVE, went on to win a Grammy, for Best Mexican American Performance. Unlike a lot of commercial pop stars, Selena's slick, keyboard-heavy sound, translates perfectly to the stage, and her vocals sound especially impressive. Backed by a crack band, that mixes pop with liberal doses of Latin rhythm, the performer runs through 11 of her hits, putting out the kind of sexy-yet-wholesome energy, that helped propel her to international heights, before her life was cut tragically short, in 1995.
